NATIONAL THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE FOR

HIGHWAYS AGENCY TEAM

A Team from the Highways Agency are tackling The National Three Peaks Challenge in May and are raising money for Us in a Bus in the process.

The challenge involves walking up (and down) the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales in 24 hours and the team of 4 walkers and 2 drivers are putting in training to make sure they get to a celebratory pint at the bottom of Snowdon on the afternoon of day 2 in one piece.  They start at the foot of Ben Nevis at 5pm on the 21st May, climb Scafell Pike the next morning and end their trial at Snowdon on the afternoon of 22nd May.

They wanted to support a local charity and when they heard about our work they realised that their support could make a huge difference to those who faced challenges everyday.

US IN A BUS ATTRACTS LOCAL SPONSORSHIP

The Team at Base Connections Telemarketing Ltd based in Woking have chosen Us in a Bus to be its charity of the year.  This means that Us in a Bus will benefit from donations from Base Connections Telemarketing every time they make an appointment.  Their goal is to raise £500 in total for Us in a Bus by this time next year.

Janet has been to meet their Team this month and outline what Us in a Bus do.  It became clear that although we may have very different Clients and Services our aims and objectives are very similar.

The Team at Base Connections are keen to boost the Company’s donations with some individual activities of their own and we look forward to hearing their ideas and working with them over the next year.  Thank you to all involved at Base Connections Telemarketing.

See www.baseconnectionstelemarketing.com for more details of the work they do.

THE BUS STOP

Do you know a young person who finds communicating and connecting a challenge?

Do you know a young person who would like to explore social networking?

During Spring 2012 Us in a Bus has successfully delivered a pilot 20 week programme delivering weekly 90 minute sessions in the community to young adults with profound learning disabilities/complex needs helping them to explore communication and sociability.

Using Intensive Interaction to facilitate the sessions we have created an opportunity to socialise that is fun, easy to access and gives young people in their transition period an opportunity to meet with others.

We would like to repeat the programme and are looking for young people who may be interested in participating.  The sessions would be held during school time and located in the community, in a venue easily accessible to 2 or more schools.  The young people would bring their PA/Carer with them, for support if required and we will provide refreshments.

If you would like to be part of this programme or to discuss the work we do further

please give us a call.
